Description
Award-winning crime journalist Lisa Joy delves into the unsolved murder of beautiful young teacher Cindy Blazek from Rosetown, Sask., who was murdered on Onion Lake Cree Nation.
If anyone was truly underserving to be the victim of a horrific brutal murder it was young elementary school teacher 24-year-old Cindy Ann Blazek.
The farm girl had a natural sweetness and kindness about her that radiated in her warm, kind eyes.
Her smile and melodic laugh could lighten the heaviest of hearts. The children she taught in school, and the seniors she cared for at the Rosetown Nursing Wing during her summer breaks from university, were drawn to the purity of her soul.
In high school, Cindy was an honour student, a cheer leader, and a candy striper at the local hospital. A social butterfly, she enjoyed hanging out with friends.
Cindy, a recent university grad during tough economic times in the 1980s, took a teaching job on Onion Lake Cree Nation. Three months later her charred and bludgeoned body was found inside her torched teacherage.
